Live Services Suspended

Live Services Suspended

To My Unity Family:

This note is to inform you that Unity of Phoenix will be suspending our LIVE outdoor services effective immediately, and returning to providing both Sunday and Wednesday services ONLINE ONLY.

Arizona is currently experiencing one of the highest rates of new Covid cases in the country. More and more people in the Phoenix area are contracting the virus, including a few members of our community and myself; unfortunately, I have tested positive. I'm experiencing mild symptoms, but please know that I'm doing okay. Obviously, I am quarantining appropriately, and I welcome your prayers for healing.

The escalating cases we are seeing in Arizona today -- which range between 5,000 up to 10,000 new cases each day -- are significantly higher than they were in March 2020, when we originally closed the campus down to do only online services. All of this becomes even more concerning with the CDC predicting that things will get worse before they get better, with coronavirus cases rising even higher over the next two to three months. We feel these escalating numbers place our congregation at risk.

In light of these circumstances, we feel that returning to virtual services over the next few months is the safest and wisest move for our congregation. We will look at resuming outdoor services in the coming months when conditions improve again: the number of cases drop significantly, and a lot more people have received the vaccination.

We encourage you to share this information with all of your Unity friends! We do our best to advise everyone of these type of changes, but not all of our congregants receive our emails or follow us on Facebook.

We will get through this together, and -- as we have done in the past -- Unity of Phoenix will continue to provide you with the best spiritual messages, services and support we possibly can.

Rev. Lori Fleming will do this Sunday's virtual service, and Rev. Richard Rogers will continue to record our Wednesday evening services. I hope to be able to record the Jan. 17 Sunday message, as long as I am feeling better and have a negative test by then.

We are hoping to conduct our Jan. 17 Annual Meeting via Zoom, and will get you that information as soon as we are able to confirm it. Rev. Lori will teach my January "Prayer Basics" and "Unity Basics" classes via Zoom, and I will reschedule my "How to Get Out of Your Own Way" class for a later date.

Our Divine Idea Books & Gifts store will also be temporarily closed as we move through this period. We will keep you updated as to when the store will be able to re-open. Please continue to read our emails and follow us on Facebook for additional information about this and other ministry news.

We continue to hold all of you in prayer, especially our healthcare and frontline workers, and the individuals/families directly impacted by the virus. We affirm that God’s love, peace, healing and abundant goodness is with all of us -- now and always

Peace and blessings,

Rev. Richard Maraj
