Fundraising Activities
We have several fundraisers during the year that help you “earn” your way to events.
For the YOU’ers we have an annual “YOU Angel Fundraiser” that invites the congregation to sponsor our Y.O.U. teens in attending the regional outings. This fund can pay up to half their way to the retreats, and their transportation.
Uniteens have two fundraisers per year. You can earn “points” (one point = the equivalent of $1) to use for events. The first is our Uniteen SuperBowl Bake sale and is held on SuperBowl Sunday. We also run the Entertainment Book Sale fundraiser in the fall.
In all cases of fundraising, you must be willing to help at the tables in the courtyard to get your transportation cost covered for regional events. We ask parents to help with events, fundraisers, paperwork, planning and organizing.
Teen Mentor Program
Selection to our Teen Mentor Program will give you training in:
- Listening skills
- Befriending skills
- Peacemaking strategies (empathy, problem solving and anger management)
- Communication skills
- Other skills necessary to lead small groups
After a nomination and then interview process in January of each year, the selected teens go through training that equips participants in performing certain service tasks, and in coping with daily life interpersonal issues. This training encourages participants to voluntarily reach out to others in caring and helpful ways. The combination of the training and service provides the nurturing of social, emotional and spiritual growth of those who participate.
This program runs from March through the beginning of June when the Teen Mentors help to facilitate part of the Children’s Peace Camp here at Unity of Phoenix.
Unity Southwest Region Leadership
![]() |
Region is made up of Unity Church’s in Arizona, southern Nevada and southern California. |
When you become involved as a leader at your home church, you get a chance to help with planning and leading local classes and events.
As you become more active you may have an opportunity to step up in a leadership role with our region by helping with the many regional events, such as overnight and weekend retreats, and our weeklong summer camps. This may mean you'll be able to attend special training retreats.
Plus, teens have the opportunity to take on roles as Southwest Regional officers and sub-regional coordinators when they are in the Y.O.U. program. This gives them the chance to help coordinate events for the Arizona churches as well as for the region.
