Children's Ministry
Welcome!
Unity of Phoenix values children as a vital part of our church community. As part of our congregation, these young people are important to us and so we endeavor to provide qualitative and caring programs.
We believe that the truth principles contained within the Uni =ty philosophy are tools that our young ones can use to expand and transform their lives for a greater expression of God in their daily life. We consider our greatest gift to them is providing an environment where they can experience the presence of God, and in that experience realize the beauty and worth of each individual and all of creation.
We teach five basic principles that are grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The Bible is our guidebook in which the stories come alive as we recognize our own spiritual journeys woven within them.
Unity of Phoenix Youth Ministry is a joyous, learning adventure where explorers and seekers of all ages are welcome and embraced in the love and grace of God. We invite you to come and join us for services and classes.
We Believe:
-
The role of the teacher and the learner, adult and child, are woven together interchangeably in a gentle dance.
-
Children are full and complete spiritual beings who are to be loved, nurtured, and kept safe on their spiritual journey.
-
Children and adults have equal value and are to be equally respected.
-
Learning is a natural, joyful, internal process unfolding differently in every individual.
Class Groups
Each lesson is based on a Truth principle that is explored through 'wonder' questions (open-ended) and active play (art, drama, creating, thinking, etc.). The classroom environment is structured to allow each child to express and explore what his or her understanding of the theme is and how it impacts him or her in their daily living.
Summer Curriculum
June and July
Each summer we take a break from our traditional Sunday school
curriculum to visit the spiritual lessons within outstanding children’s
literature. The 2012 summer series explores the spiritual lessons offered in The Rainbow Fish books. The lessons are based upon the "moral" of the story from a spiritual and practical aspect. Fun, games and activities are all part of the experience.
