“Never confuse motion with action.” - Benjamin Franklin
Scripture
“Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me – everything you heard from me and saw me doing…” Philippians 4:8
Message
Activation is about getting things started, taking the initiative to do the work necessary to bring forth all the good we desire! Action is the all-important activity – but as Benjamin Franklin warned, take care not to confuse motion with action, because busyness doesn’t necessarily mean you are taking the “right” action. Looking at activation with careful thought, prayer and intention will improve our lives and support the goals and vision we hold for ourselves!
Take a look at the goals, dreams and resolutions you’ve set. We all set these with the best of intentions, then “life” happens – it gets in the way and those intentions end up falling off our radar screen. So why are we sometimes challenged in achieving success when goal setting? Perhaps:
1. We don’t take that most important “first step”
2. We don’t institute a plan on how we are going to achieve our goals
3. We don’t create manageable, reasonable action items to practice on a daily basis
4. We lose our motivation
5. We lose patience
6. We don’t have a plan on how to get back on track when setbacks or interruptions occur
7. We forget why we set our goals and resolutions in the first place
Someone once asked Socrates: “How do you get to Mt. Olympus?” He responded: “Make every step you take carry you in that direction.” Perhaps your goal is like Mt. Olympus. For example, you may desire good health. Steps in the right direction to building good health would be to get enough sleep, eat a balanced diet, exercise, meditate, and listen to what your body needs.
Activate the wisdom and guidance of Spirit. Act not out of desperation but out of deliberation. Consciously, intentionally turn within, through prayer and meditation, to activate the wisdom and guidance of Spirit. When acting from a spiritually centered place, results are more effective and successful!
Next, activate the spiritual qualities needed to achieve your goal. Think about what the consciousness, attitude, attributes and qualities are that lie beneath your belief in achieving it. There is a story about a gentleman who offers a poor lady some bread. She takes the bread but sees he has a very expensive stone. She asks for and he agrees to exchange the bread for the stone. The very next day she returns the stone and tells him that although she recognizes the stone has great value, what she really wants is what is within that allowed him to give the stone to her so readily. Even though she knew the stone’s value, she also knew the consciousness he held was so much more valuable.
Ask: “What qualities do I need to embody and awaken to allow my goals and dreams to become manifest? What abilities do I need to express and activate in order to see great possibilities, to be thankful, positive, to have good judgment and to make wise decisions?”
Any goal that we want to achieve in life, we must first become it in consciousness. Hold a space of becoming in consciousness, and then take action, one step at a time, one moment at a time. For us to achieve our dreams, it takes practice, it takes persistence, and it takes a process.
Every night, with your goal written down:
- take a moment to visualize and feel what it would feel like to have your goal achieved
- take 2 minutes to release and let go of whatever it is that you need to let go.
- spend 1 minute expecting thatgood things will happen, that solutions come easily.
- take 1 last minute activating the wisdom of God, saying “show me…lead me…guide me….”
- now activate the consciousness you need and then go to bed.
When you wake, take the next step towards realizing your goal, then the next step…then the next step. All of our lives can and will improve just by working with this process and by using the power of imagination, the power of elimination, the power of expectation and the power of activation. God bless you!
Prayer
Almighty God, in this very moment, I breathe deeply and open my heart to activate the wisdom and guidance needed to support me in achieving all of my goals and dreams. Dear God, show me the way; lead me in taking rightful action. Guide me in making the right and perfect decisions to ensure the most amazing outcomes. Thank you God that this is done with grace and ease, and so it is, Amen.
