Mary Magdalene:
Woman and Archetype
Saturday, May 3 • 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Tickets: $35 per person (On sale April 6)
Seating limited to 60.
Who was Mary Magdalene? What do we really know of her? The New Testament suggests that she was a close companion to Jesus. Is there further proof that she was actually his beloved wife?
Legends abound about this “other Mary,” who is mentioned so often in the Gospels: she was healed of seven demons by Jesus, stood at the foot of his cross, then accompanied other mourners to his tomb and was first to return to find him resurrected on Easter. She is the most prominent woman in the Gospels, mentioned first in seven of the eight lists of women who walked with Jesus.
Who was this woman? What became of her? What can we know of her?
Margaret Starbird makes the case that Mary Magdalene and Jesus had a “holy, dynastic marriage.” In fact, Dan Brown specifically cites Margaret Starbird’s work as having been a major influence in forming the story told in The Da Vinci Code. Furthermore, Starbird believes that Mary serves as an archetype for all womankind, and that separating Mary from Jesus represents “a distortion of the most basic model for life on our planet -- the ‘sacred union’ of devoted partners.”
Whether you agree or disagree with her position, you’ll be fascinated by the argument Margaret Starbird makes. Come hear her speak, and gain a greater understanding of the modern fascination with Mary Magdalene and her new mythology.

Rev. Ellen Debenport
Absolute Living
Sunday, June 15
at all Sunday Morning Worship Services
Plenty of people can recite spiritual principles, and they might even believe their lives can be transformed. But what are they actually supposed to DO? In “Absolute Living,” Rev. Ellen Debenport will suggest ways to make each ordinary, daily decision from the highest consciousness. That’s how we co-create the lives we want ... and create the kingdom of heaven on earth.
Rev. Ellen Debenport served as senior minister at Unity Church of Dallas until the end of 2007. Now she writes and speaks fulltime about the innate power of the human spirit. She remains very active in the Unity movement, serving on the board at Unity’s world headquarters in Unity Village, Missouri. She also hosts a radio show called Absolute Living on Unity.FM Internet radio every Monday at 11 a.m. Pacific time.
