Serving
The basis of all service is truly in serving GOD.
When you give of your time, you are the church. "For
as in one body, we have many members. And all the members do not have the
same function. So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually
members one of the other." (Romans 12:4-5 NRSV)

Volunteering Has Changed My Life!
By Marilyn Smith
I can't tell you the difference
volunteering has made in my life. I
was ready to step up my spiritual
commitment, so I enrolled in Rev.
Richard's 4T's class. One of the
assignments was to volunteer. After
much consideration of the options
available, I was still overwhelmed.
Then I talked to Penni Honey.
What was important for me was to feel
that I was volunteering, not just to meet my class commitments,
but to feel that my service meant something. So Penni wisely
had me start by doing some organizational tasks where, behind
the scenes, I felt comfortable. Then I helped cover the Volunteer
Coordinator tasks one Sunday, and found that to be very
rewarding (not scary at all), so I am still helping there. Recently
I had the opportunity to be a class angel, where I helped the
facilitator by having the room and materials ready, collecting
the love offerings and verifying sign ins. Plus I got the benefit
of participating in the class, too!
I love it and look forward to growing my volunteer muscles
even more! |
