Membership at Unity of Phoenix
The most important consideration for becoming a member of Unity
of Phoenix is a desire to know God and to understand and follow God’s
spiritual laws.
We believe there are many paths to God, so as a member of Unity of
Phoenix, you are wholly free to live your life according to the inspiration
of the Spirit of Truth within you. Membership is simply one way of
affirming, “This is truly my spiritual home.”
Membership affirms your commitment to your individual spiritual
growth and to your spiritual community. We believe we gain strength
from unity — from the power of coming together into collective Christ
consciousness and, together, seeking the flow and wisdom of the
universe. Membership marks your dedication to sharing that consciousness
of love, and to serving as a channel through which God’s blessings
can fl ow to you and through you to your loved ones and community.
Unity is not just a system of worship; it’s a way of life. As a member, we encourage you to love and accept all of God’s children unconditionally, practice spiritual principles on a daily basis, and seek a greater experience of God and life. In return, our commitment as a ministry is to help support, inspire and lift you into living a more fulfilling, Spirit-centered life, and to help your light shine brightly in this world.
The Path to Membership
Membership is never a requirement for attending Unity of Phoenix. However, if you would like to make a deeper commitment to your spiritual life and you consider Unity of Phoenix your spiritual home, become one of our members:
- Complete our Unity Basics and
Prayer Basics classes
The completion of these two courses is a prerequisite for becoming a Unity of Phoenix member, prayer chaplain, teen sponsor, or board trustee. (Both classes must be completed before you attend Membership Orientation.) These classes provide a comprehensive introduction to our Unity principles, and emphasize the importance of prayer in deepening our experience of God. - Attend our New Member Orientation
At this mandatory gathering with our ministers, you’ll learn more about our ministry; what it means to be a member; how to become more involved and take your next steps as a member. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the staff and Board members. Orientations are offered only twice a year, so please plan ahead! - Celebrate with us at our
New Member Recognition Services
On the Sunday following New Member Orientation, new members are both collectively and individually recognized at each morning worship service. Our new members will also enjoy a Celebration Gathering with their families and our ministers at 12:30 p.m. (While this step is optional, it is a wonderful way to celebrate your new member status!)
Required Classes
PLEASE NOTE: We will be offering these classes several times a year. Each class is a total of 4 hours; you can choose from 2 classes of 2 hours each or one class lasting 4 hours. You can take the classes in either order, as long as both are completed before you apply for Membership.

Next Steps
As a member, our hope is that you feel a sense of “ownership” in our ministry, and willdemonstrate your commitment through regular prayer and participation in the many
services and activities that Unity of Phoenix offers.
Prayer and Meditation. Prayer deepens our spiritual awareness and cultivates our
relationship with God. We encourage you to adopt a daily prayer and meditation
practice, and to participate in meditation services and classes that expand your
consciousness of prayer.
Spiritual Growth. Our classes and workshops are designed to take you into a deeper
experience of God, and to help you integrate spiritual principles and practices into your
every day life. We encourage you to explore these opportunities to support your spiritual
path and expand your understanding of God and your own divinity.
Consider Joining a Small Group. Small groups are a wonderful way to build deeper
connections within our spiritual community. With a wide variety of activities and
schedules, there’s sure to be a group that’s right for you! If not, start one yourself!
Volunteer. Service is a power-filled spiritual practice that each of us is called to embody
and express. Service enriches our lives, glorifies God, and raises the consciousness of
all humanity. There are hundreds of ways to be involved in our ministry; we’ll work with
you to find an an area of ministry that fits your skills, interest, schedule and, especially, the
spiritual gifts that are uniquely yours.
Take Our “4Ts” Class. As a member, we also ask you to prayerfully consider the spiritual
value of Tithing your Time, Talents and Treasure. Most people think of tithing as giving ...
but it is actually about receiving. When you share freely of your gifts, you’re actually
opening up space to receive the infinite abundance, blessings and glory of God in your
life. We invite you to learn more about this important spiritual practice by taking our
“4Ts” class, which is offered several times throughout the year.
Of course, your commitment to spiritual and material support of Unity of Phoenix should
always be in accordance to your own consciousness and abilities.
