From 2000 through 2003, Jimmie served as the Chaplain at Unity Institute and was on the Board of Directors of Renaissance West, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri. Renaissance West is an alcohol and drug treatment center for adults.

Reverend Scott’s secular interests have included services as vicechairman of C.O.P.E., an organization founded to provide training and job placement for the mentally and physically handicapped. He also served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau’s Automobile Arbitration Program. He is a past advisor for Junior Achievement, counselor for abused and neglected children, and past chairman for the advisory board of Community Enhancement, an alcohol and drug abuse council for teens.
