A Tithing Ministry

Unity of Phoenix Tithing Policy

As a demonstration of the abundance of God, Unity of Phoenix is a tithing ministry. The Church shall tithe 10% of its gross income to where it is spiritually fed with one exception: the amount tithed from the Bookstore shall be 10% of the amount received less the cost of goods.

We are spiritually fed by that which inspires us, teaches us, reminds us of the Truth and causes us to remember who we really are.

We invite you to make recommendations to the Tithing Commitee regarding organizations you feel should be considered as a potential recipient of a monthly tithe.

Click here to fill out & download, then mail us the Tithing Recommendation Form or drop it off at the reception desk in the administration building.

Please provide all the information requested in order to help us make the best decision regarding which organizations we will select. Please note that the organization must be a 501c3.

Fifty percent of the Church’s regular monthly tithe is allocated to the greater Unity movement. Tithes from capital fundraising campaigns are not subject to this allocation and shall be determined by the Board.

The Unity movement tithe shall include ministerial scholarships to Unity ministerial students in a number and amount determined by the Board. The remaining portion of the Unity movement tithe shall be divided equally between the Unity Institute, the Association of Unity Churches, the Southwest Unity Region, and Silent Unity.

The Spiritual Leadership Team shall meet monthly to discuss what individuals and organizations have spiritually fed the Church and its stakeholders during the preceding month, and shall make recommendations to the Board regarding proposed recipients of the remaining 50% of the tithe amount. The Board shall approve all such discretionary tithes and report to the congregation where such tithes were sent and in what amount.

Any Unity stakeholder may propose tithe candidates to the Spiritual Leadership Team for consideration.

Greater Unity Movement Tithes

Unity of Phoenix tithes monthly to the following Unity
students and organizations:

Ministerial School Scholarship Tithes
For over 10 years, Unity of Phoenix has tithed to students attending Unity’s Ministerial School and Unity Institute at Unity Village, Missouri. Unity of Phoenix currently tithes to students from our congregation who are enrolled at Unity Institute. As a ministry, these students bless us as they further the work of Unity and further enhance our ministry’s commitment to spiritual growth.

Association of Unity Churches International
This organization is the ordaining body for licensing and ordaining Unity Ministers. Each Sunday our ministry is blessed by the work of our ministers and the support and education they receive from our Association. The Association also provides regular support to our Youth and Family Ministry through curriculum and other resources. It provided invaluable assistance during our Senior Minister search in 2006.

Silent Unity
This organization is the foundation of what Unity teaches, prayer. It provides 24-hour, one-on-one prayer support to people across the United States and the world 365 days a year. Many of our members use Silent Unity to support their own spiritual growth. Silent Unity receives more than one million calls each year! It also publishes The Daily Word, which is widely read in our ministry and throughout the world.

Southwest Unity Region
This entity is a part of the Association of Unity Churches, but provides support specific to our southwest region. The region representatives, including our own Rev. Mark Fisk, support the ministers and our children and teens through retreats, camps, and special meetings.

Unity Institute
This organization is the ministerial school where students are trained to be Licensed Unity Teachers and Ordained Unity Ministers. Unity Institute offers several degree programs and has a vital retreat department to support Unity ministries. Unity of Phoenix has many congregants and members who attend classes at Unity Institute to further their education and spiritual growth. We are constantly blessed by the adult education classes taught by our Licensed Unity Teachers.

Discretionary Tithes

These tithes are given to groups, individuals, and organizations that have spiritually fed our congregation in a given month. Our Spiritual Leadership Team (Lead Minister, Associate Minister, Executive Director and Operations Manager) meets monthly and makes tithe recommendations to the Board of Trustees for approval.

Congregant suggestions for tithe recipients may be submitted to the Spiritual Leadership Team for consideration. Submission forms are available at the reception desk. Please keep in mind that these tithes are not made to organizations that one person may be fond of. These tithes are specifically designed to give back to where the ministry has been spiritually fed. The following are examples of Unity of Phoenix tithe recipients:

Rickie Byars-Beckwith
We have tithed to Rickie on several occasions as her music blesses many of our worship services. We regularly use her music free of charge in our services, including “I Release,” “I’m Choosing Heaven Today,” and “I Trust in God.”

The Hunger Project
We have tithed to the Hunger Project on several occasions as part of our ministry’s commitment to tithing worldwide and our vision of being “a magnifying power for the miraculous transformation of the world.” This international organization implements amazing empowerment processes for individuals and villages in the Third World.

Rev. Catherine Ponder
Rev. Ponder is the author of many Unity books and recently donated hundreds of them to Unity of Phoenix for us to give to our new members and chaplains.

Palomino Project
Palomino is working to empower individuals and families with education and support. Unity of Phoenix has a long-standing relationship with this organization and regularly tithes and participates in its outreach projects.
